Auto Emblems in Australia - The Ivan Hoffmann Collection

This web-site presents emblems (also referred to as badges, mascots, scripts, logos etc.) displayed on automobiles since the introduction of the horseless carriage and have been collected by Ivan Hoffmann. The Collection is mostly "uncommon" early emblems of marques and contains about 300 makes of automobiles. In July 2024 this Collection was donated by Ivan Hoffmann to the National Motor Muesum, Birdwood, South Australia.

Rolls-Royce

Charles Rolls and Henry Royce started Rolls-Royce (it is hyphenated), the iconic British car in 1906. Some were built in USA under patent. Originally the RR was red, however around the time of the death of Royce the RR changed to black to be more formal for the coach body.

The Rolls-Royce mascot is called "Spirit of Ecstasy" being the shape of a woman leaning forward with arms out to the sides, shoulder height, with sleeves billowing.
